Area of Concentration: Analysis and Conception of the Built Space in the Amazon

The "Analysis and Design of the Constructed Space in the Amazon" concentration area encompasses the different actions of architecture and urbanism in the Amazonian reality through theory, history, design and technology. This diversity encompasses design theory, theory and history of architecture, comfort of built space, preservation and memory, conservation and restoration of historic buildings, planning theory and urban design.

Understanding and interpretation of the building and the city through the analysis of built space, urban production and management, environmental performance and energy efficiency, the theoretical approach of architecture and urban design, memory, cultural heritage and critical formulation on the architectural culture, recognizing the historical, cultural, environmental, symbolic, aesthetic and affective character of socially constructed spaces, dialoguing with other fields of knowledge.

Constructive Technologies, Conservation and Restoration

Analysis of real estate under the archeology viewpoint of architecture, theory and technology of preservation, conservation and restoration of cultural material goods, aiming at documentation of heritage, development of materials and constructive techniques, evaluation of the state of conservation of buildings and of weathering effect on historical monuments, as well as the durability of restorative procedures and new technologies appropriate to the local reality through the interrelationship with the various sciences.
